- NEW - Berlin-Dresden-Colditz Germany
- This gallery is the result of a five day trip to Germany, taking in Dresden, Miesen (pottery), Colditz (castle) and Berlin. Really enjoyed Dresden, the photo opportunities here are endless and the city is very easy to get around. Colditz is a gem of a castle and steeped in centuries of history and not just the brief few years of WW2 which everyone remembers it for. Berlin is still a tale of two halves and I recommend you visit the East side, in particular Karl Marx Allee for its wonderful wedding-cake-style buildings.

- NEW - Mottisfont Abbey UK
- Mottisfont Abbey at Mottisfont in Hampshire is famous for its walled rose gardens. The estate is now operated by the National Trust. The grounds are extensive and there are many photo opportunities to be had all year round and not just the roses. The river test runs through the gardens and there are many marked countryside walks in the area.

- NEW - Fordingbridge New Forest UK
- Fordingbridge in Hampshire is a small and unspoiled town on the edge of the New Forest. The bridge is a major feature of the town with its seven graceful arches, which can be seen very easily from the towns large riverside park where one can walk along the riverbank draped with willows and waterside plants.

- NEW - Kaprun Austria
- Kaprun is a small alpine village in the district of Zell am See in the state of Salzburg, Austria. At the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, it is a year round sports centre, with a population of 2,903 (2001). I spent my summer holiday there in 2011, it is an extremely photogenic area, as you will discover from this gallery.
- The town is also known for its power plant. The construction began during World War II by prisoners of war from Belgium and other occupied countries. It was finished after the war.
- One of the dams for the power plant bears an inscription: ERP - Erbaut mit Marshallplan hilfe (ERP (European Recovery Program) - built with help from the Marshall Plan).
- In 2000, it was the site of the Kaprun disaster, in which 155 skiers lost their lives in a tunnel fire.
- Tauern Spa World was completed in November 2010, and is the second largest spa complex in Austria.

- NEW - Ampfield Arboretum UK Autumn 2011
- The images in this gallery were taken during the Autumn of 2011. I always find plenty to photograph at Ampfield Arboretum and there’s always something new on every visit. A huge amount of effort goes into maintaining the Arboretum and it’s a glowing testament to the skill of those that work there.
- I hope you will enjoy the images in this Gallery as much as I did taking them and don’t forget all the images on this site can be purchased. The details are below and on each of the Gallery index pages.

- NEW - Baddesley Common UK Autumn 2011
- Baddesley Common and Emer Bog are areas of New Forest style grassland heath and bog. There is a wide variety of the plants which thrive in this environment and it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Follow the link and take a look at the gallery.
- Marsh Gentian, Cross-leaved Heath, Lousewort, Heath Spotted orchid and Petty Whin are some specialist plants that occur in the wet heath areas.
- White Admiral and Purple Emperor butterflies glide through the woods and dragonflies chase over the bog and ponds. Several hundred different species of moth have been recorded.
- There is also a boardwalk trail towards the back of the bog, which can be strolled in order to observe the woodland wildlife.
- St John's Church is a mainly 17th century building set on a hill-brow with a view over countryside. Baddesley Manor, opposite the church, is an 18th century building as the successor of the medieval Preceptory of the Knights Hospitaller. The village was a stronghold of the Knights of St John.

- NEW - Bolderwood New Forest UK Autumn 2011
- Bolderwood is an area of the New Forest in Hampshire, it hosts the Bolderwood deer sanctuary with a public deer observation platform. As a result, the public car park at Bolderwood is the most visited in the New Forest. From here the Bolderwood Arboretum and Ornamental Drive links to the A35 passing close to the Knightwood Oak, one of the largest trees in the New Forest. A nearby feature is the Portuguese Fireplace.

- Ryde Peir To Shanklin I.O.W. UK
- Thought I had better get some shots of the I.O.W Hovercraft before it retires. Its been running for quite some years now and I don’t think there are any plans to replace these wonderful pieces of transport equipment. Especially as they are all out of production now. The Hovercraft runs from Portsmouth to Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
- The Island Line is a railway line on the Isle of Wight, running some 8.5 miles (13.7 km) from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin down the eastern side of the island. The line was electrified in 1967. Trains connect with passenger ferries to Portsmouth Harbour at Ryde Pier Head, and these ferries in turn connect with the rest of the National Rail network. The line also connects to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, a steam-operated heritage railway at Smallbrook Junction. For much of its length the line runs alongside the A3055, criss-crossing this road by means of the Ryde Tunnel and bridges at Rowborough, Morton Common, Lake Hill and Littlestairs.

- Farnborough Airshow 2010
- At last over a year after the Farnborough Airshow 2010 I have finally completed editing, what turned out out be a large gallery. I think it was worth the effort, I’ll let you decide?
- Farnborough is certainly the place to go for static aircraft displays, but I’m not convinced by the aerial displays, when compared with something like the Borunmouth International Airshow, who’s cliff front viewing position gives the spectator a far superior view of the action and at much closer quarters.
- Kew Gardens UK
- Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
- Throughout its history, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew has made important contributions to increasing the understanding of the plant kingdom with many benefits for mankind.
- Today it is still first and foremost a scientific institution. With its collections of living and preserved plants, of plant products and botanical information, it forms an encyclopaedia of knowledge about the plant kingdom.
- The Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise, Jasper, Banff
- We took a summer vacation to Alberta, Canada, spending five days in each of Lake Louise, Jasper and Banff. There was a feast of wildlife and er, well trees and of course mountains. If you haven’t been before, but you have been to the European Alps, then it’s like some monster has been into the Alps, pushed them all apart, planted millions of trees and sprinkled it with Bears.
- Fantastic scenery, although personally I think the European Alps are prettier, but if you must have the wildlife you need to go to the Canadian Rockies.
- There is a good selection of images from Lake Louise, Jasper and Banff. I really enjoyed Jasper and found it the best of the three for access to the surrounding area and its wildlife, lakes and trails.
- Concorde (G-BOAF) At Filton - UK.
- The last Concorde to fly, G-BOAF, is being kept for posterity at the birth place of The Concorde, at Filton, Bristol, on the BAE site at Golfcourse Lane. I spent five years at the old Rols Royce Rodney Works on the same site during the 1980’s, working on a number of RR Engines, including the Olympus 593 used in the Concorde.
- So as I was in Bristol for the weekend I though I would pay them a visit. Anyone can go along to the “Concorde at Filton” and take the tour of the BAE site which ends with a guided tour round Concorde G-BOAF. The cost is about £12.
- I must confess to getting special treatment, as I was an ex Rolls Royce employee, who worked on the Olympus 593 Concorde engines. I was given a tour in a group of one, just me, and the guys were fantastic, it was all a bit nostalgic really. But it did enable me to get some great images, that would not have been possible had it been a regular tour. So thanks to all at “Concorde at Filton”.
- Have a look at the Gallery and maybe pay them a visit, it’s open all year round and Bristol has a great deal more to offer as well.
